Maintenance Worker - Handyman

About the role

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is looking for a Maintenance Worker (Handyman) for its Engineering department, based in Premier, KwaZulu-Natal. The post reports directly to the Team Leader: Site in Premier. The main purpose is to inspect, adjust and repair site-related equipment proactively, including building maintenance, painting and general repairs according to maintenance schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Repair or replace defective equipment parts with hand and power tools and reassemble equipment
• Carry out routine preventative maintenance so building systems run efficiently and the building does not deteriorate
• Maintain ablution facilities
• Assemble, pipe systems and plumbing, and fit machinery and equipment
• Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodworks, plaster drywall and other building parts
• Repair counters, benches, partitions and wooden structures such as sheds and outbuildings

Required profile

• A trade qualification (e.g. carpentry, painting, building, plumbing) is advantageous
• At least two years' proven experience as a tiller, painter, plumber or carpenter, preferably with a construction background
• Oral communication in English
• Ability to work without supervision
• Driver's licence

• Good understanding of plumbing systems and repairs
• Use of hand and power tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills and wrenches
