Lecturer – Physiology (Medical Biosciences)

About the role

The University of the Western Cape seeks a dedicated Lecturer to join the Department of Medical Biosciences. You will teach Physiology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contribute to research, and support curriculum development.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate learning and teaching in Physiology across multiple modules.
• Conduct and publish research in the field of Physiology.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, including Honours research.
• Provide academic leadership, administration, and curriculum development.
• Participate in community engagement and outreach activities.
• Contribute to departmental and faculty administrative duties as assigned.

Required profile

• MSc in Physiology and registration for a PhD with a clear completion plan.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching Physiology at higher education level.
• Evidence of high‑quality, peer‑reviewed research outputs.
• Record of postgraduate supervision at Honours level.
• Active involvement in community engagement linked to teaching or research.
