Head of People & Business Partner

About the role

The Head of People & Business Partner will work closely with the Managing Director and Executive Team to build organisational capability, drive development initiatives and embed a high‑performance culture that supports BFG Africa’s growth strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership, aligning people strategy with business priorities.
• Lead organisational development, capability building, succession planning and leadership pipeline initiatives.
• Design and implement a robust performance management framework, overseeing executive KPI setting and evaluation.
• Coach leaders to create accountable, high‑performing teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Drive organisation design, role clarity and operating model alignment, supporting restructuring and transformation.
• Lead change‑management programmes, ensuring adoption of new structures, processes and digital initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and oversee employee‑relations and IR frameworks.
• Facilitate cross‑functional collaboration across Operations, Commercial, Technical, Engineering and Finance to remove bottlenecks.

Required profile

• National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Psychology or related field (post‑graduate qualification advantageous).
• 5–8 years of senior HR/people leadership experience.
• Proven experience as an executive‑level business partner within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and employee‑relations practices.
