Two‑Year Graduate Development Programme – Environmental Management

About the role

Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is offering a two‑year Graduate Development Programme for South African graduates in Environmental Management, ESG or related fields. The programme combines structured classroom learning with on‑the‑job training across various TFR depots and departments.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in rotational assignments within TFR’s operational and support functions.
• Assist with environmental monitoring, reporting and compliance activities.
• Support sustainability initiatives and ESG reporting.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve operational challenges.
• Undertake research and analytical tasks as directed by mentors.

Required profile

• South African citizen, aged 18‑35.
• Fully completed BA or BSc degree (NQF Level 7) in Environmental Management, ESG or a related discipline.
• No prior work experience required.
• Strong business understanding and administrative abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy.
