Theatre Qualified Registered Nurse – Durban

About the role

Join a leading private hospital in Durban as a Theatre Qualified Registered Nurse. You will provide safe, evidence‑based nursing care throughout the peri‑operative period, supporting surgeons, anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care before, during and after surgical procedures.
• Prepare the operating theatre, equipment, instruments and sterile supplies.
• Scrub and assist surgeons, and circulate to ensure equipment and medication availability.
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and follow infection‑prevention protocols.
• Conduct accurate surgical counts and document patient information.
• Monitor patients closely, administer prescribed medications and respond to emergencies.
• Operate and monitor specialised theatre equipment, ensuring proper maintenance.
• Support stock control and mentor junior nursing staff.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification with theatre experience.
• Strong clinical expertise and ability to work in a fast‑paced surgical environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
