Skid Steer Operator – Underground Mining

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Skid Steer Operator to safely load and transport ore and other materials within an underground hard‑rock mining environment. The successful candidate will operate a skid steer loader, ensure equipment is maintained, and support safe and efficient material movement.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect mobile equipment at the start and end of each shift for defects.
• Operate the skid steer loader in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
• Transport ore, rock and other materials throughout the underground mine.
• Drive and control trackless mobile machines safely in the underground work area.
• Maintain equipment in good order and report any non‑compliance.
• Participate in safety meetings, hazard inspections and recommend corrective actions.
• Support change‑management initiatives and provide assistance to stakeholders to achieve team objectives.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification (essential).
• Valid Skid Steer Operator Certificate (essential).
• Minimum one year of underground mining experience.
• Understanding of safe transport processes in hard‑rock environments.
• Awareness of common harmful gases and vapours in underground settings.

Required skills

• Skid Steer Operator Certificate.

• Knowledge of underground mining terminology and safety regulations.
