Senior Phase English Teacher (Locum)

About the role

ADvTECH is seeking a qualified English teacher to cover a senior phase (Grades 8‑10) maternity locum position. The role involves delivering a rigorous, future‑focused curriculum while supporting the emotional, social and intellectual wellbeing of learners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess English lessons for senior phase classes.
• Guide students in subject choices and academic pathways.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and inspiring learning environment.
• Manage student behaviour and contribute to school brand ambassadorship.
• Complete administrative duties, reporting and health‑and‑safety tasks.

Required profile

• Degree (NQF level 7) with PGCE or B.Ed. in Senior Phase or FET.
• SACE certification and a valid police clearance.
• 2‑5 years teaching experience, including specialist subject experience if applicable.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and professional presentation skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, problem‑solving and time‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Computer and digital literacy.
• First Aid certification.
