Senior JVM Backend Engineer (Java / Clojure)

About the role

Lumenalta is seeking a Senior JVM Backend Engineer to join its talent pipeline for future client projects. The role is fully remote, supporting enterprise‑scale digital products across logistics, fintech, transportation, insurance, media and other data‑intensive sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑performance, distributed backend services using Java and Clojure.
• Build RESTful APIs and event‑driven architectures, integrating with Kafka or similar streaming platforms.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to create resilient systems that handle massive user traffic and data volumes.
• Maintain and evolve cloud infrastructure on AWS, leveraging services such as ECS/EKS, EC2, S3, RDS and Lambda.
• Containerize applications with Docker and orchestrate deployments using Kubernetes.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily in Java.
• Strong expertise in Clojure and/or Grails (Groovy).
• Deep understanding of the JVM ecosystem and functional programming concepts.
• Proven experience designing scalable, distributed systems.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
