Senior Customs Entry Clerk – Freight Forwarding

About the role

The Senior Customs Entry Clerk will ensure accurate and compliant customs entry processing for both import and export shipments. Working closely with suppliers, clients and internal teams, you will help maintain DP World’s accredited status while delivering high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Complete a minimum of 20 entries (200 lines) per day while keeping the error rate below 1%.
• Verify that all required documents are uploaded to eDocs before entry processing.
• Reject incomplete entries and coordinate corrective actions with Operations.
• Classify commodities using the parts library, commercial invoice description or tariff book.
• Ensure all permits, certificates and rebates are obtained and recorded in line with customs legislation.
• Manage customs stops or detentions, follow up on stop notes and apply escalations until resolution.
• Validate invoice, packing list and transport document details such as piece count, SOB, ETA, currency and country of origin.
• Resolve queries promptly with internal and external stakeholders and escalate critical issues.

Required profile

• Matric NCFF (NQF ¾) with FIATA Diploma preferred.
• Logistics or related degree/diploma advantageous.
• SDS or Higher Certificate in Freight Forwarding and Customs Compliance.
• 3‑5 years of experience in a senior customs affairs role.
• Exceptional communication and client‑orientation skills.
