Production Manager – Pharmacist (6‑Month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

This six‑month fixed‑term position is for an experienced Production Pharmacist who will lead the manufacturing operations of a pharmaceutical plant in Gauteng, South Africa. The role combines hands‑on production management with regulatory oversight to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant output.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily production activities, driving optimal output and cost‑effective processes.
• Implement and maintain Quality Assurance procedures and SOPs in line with GMP standards.
• Monitor equipment calibration and maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Manage production assets, CAPEX planning, and procurement of consumables.
• Prepare and review operational reports to support business decisions.
• Lead, coach, and develop production staff, ensuring adherence to GMP and OHSA requirements.
• Compile, review, and maintain SOPs and production documentation for regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree.
• Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Minimum six years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including aseptic processing.
• At least two years of supervisory experience in a production environment.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, sterilisation methods, validation, and OHSA regulations.
