Procurement Officer – Johannesburg

About the role

A leading organisation is seeking an experienced Procurement Officer to manage strategic sourcing, procurement and contract administration for a large student accommodation portfolio in Johannesburg. The role focuses on delivering value for money, maintaining quality standards and achieving cost efficiencies while complying with governance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end procurement processes for goods and services, including obtaining competitive quotations, evaluating proposals and issuing purchase orders.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships, negotiate national supply agreements, monitor performance and resolve disputes.
• Oversee contract administration, track expiry dates, ensure compliance with contractual KPIs and coordinate renewals.
• Monitor inventory levels, standardise stock items, coordinate bulk purchases and support annual stock counts.
• Track procurement spend against budgets, verify pricing, identify cost‑saving opportunities and prepare monthly procurement reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Management, Logistics, Commerce or a related field.
• Minimum five years’ experience in procurement or supply‑chain management, with proven strategic sourcing and supplier‑relationship management.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating supplier agreements, managing budgets and delivering cost‑efficiency initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management, written and verbal communication, and an analytical, results‑driven approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using FG Nexus or other ERP procurement systems.
