About the role

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is recruiting a large cohort of Police Trainees to strengthen national security. Successful candidates will undergo basic police development training and be deployed across the Republic of South Africa.

Key responsibilities

Prevent, combat and investigate crime.
Maintain public order.
Protect citizens and their property.
Uphold and enforce the law.

Required profile

South African citizenship.
Senior Certificate or equivalent plus a minimum NQF Level 6 qualification (e.g., Bachelor’s degree or three‑year diploma).
Fluency in at least two official languages, one of which must be English.
Age between 18 and 30 years.
No criminal convictions, pending cases, or disqualifying tattoos.
Willingness to take the oath of office and undergo extensive vetting, including fingerprinting, medical, fitness, psychological and integrity assessments.
Ability to meet physical standards (BMI < 30, waist ≤ 102 cm for males, ≤ 88 cm for females).
Readiness to serve and train anywhere in South Africa.
