Mining Foreman

About the role

Cape Lime is seeking a Mining Foreman to lead daily quarry operations at its Vredendal site, ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards, and drive continuous improvement for Afrimat.

Key responsibilities

• Fulfil the 2.6.1 legal appointment under the MHSA.
• Oversee daily quarry activities including drilling, blasting, crushing and haulage.
• Develop and implement mine plans and production schedules.
• Manage budgets, assets, resource allocation and cost control.
• Lead and develop site teams, fostering a culture of safety and performance.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies such as DMPR and participate in inspections.
• Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor and report on production metrics and site performance.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in Mining or Mechanical Engineering, or a Red Seal trade qualification.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in quarrying/mining operations, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven track record as a 2.6.1 legal appointee under the MHSA and medically fit.
• Valid driver’s licence and strong leadership and people‑management skills.
• In‑depth knowledge of quarrying processes, limestone and lime processing, plant equipment and safety standards.
