Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Forensic Social Work

About the role

North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus) invites applications for a permanent Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in Forensic Social Work within the Faculty of Health Sciences – School of Psychosocial Health. The role involves teaching, research, and professional service in forensic practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver blended contact sessions and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Conduct research and innovation activities, publish scholarly work, and supervise postgraduate theses.
• Provide expert forensic social work assessments and testify in court as required.
• Contribute to curriculum development and academic governance.

Required profile

• Master of Social Work specialising in Forensic Practice (NQF level 9) with registration and proof of application with SACSSP.
• For Lecturer: minimum three years of generic forensic practice, including direct practice or supervisory/managerial experience.
• For Senior Lecturer: at least three years of forensic practice, two years of teaching experience, and two years of research with at least two publications and postgraduate supervision.
• Additional advantage: PhD in Forensic Practice, membership of relevant academic and professional networks.

Required skills

• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office suite, PowerPoint, and data‑analysis software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work from an evidence‑based approach and use e‑media for teaching.
