Junior Pre-Sales Support Engineer

About the role

The Junior Pre‑Sales Security Engineer will support sales and solutions teams in positioning Obscure Technologies’ cybersecurity portfolio to partners and end customers. This development role provides training and certification across a range of security vendors, with a clear path toward a senior pre‑sales engineering position.

Key responsibilities

• Support senior pre‑sales engineers in scoping, designing and positioning security solutions for partners and end customers.
• Prepare and deliver product demonstrations, proof‑of‑value and proof‑of‑concept exercises in lab and customer environments.
• Draft technical responses for proposals, RFPs and tenders, including solution descriptions, bills of materials and licensing breakdowns.
• Build and maintain demo environments across the vendor portfolio.
• Attend customer and partner meetings, capture technical requirements and follow up on queries.

Required profile

• Relevant IT qualification (degree, diploma or equivalent certification) in information technology, computer science, networking or cybersecurity.
• 1‑3 years’ experience in IT, networking, security or technical support; pre‑sales exposure advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence, own transport and willingness to travel within Gauteng and occasionally further.

Required skills

• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, VPNs, firewall concepts.
• Security technologies: firewalls, endpoint protection, identity management, email security, vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with vendor solutions such as Palo Alto Networks, Forescout, Okta, Proofpoint, Arista, Tenable, Rubrik, Pentera and Sendmarc.
