Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team in the Cape Winelands region. This position offers a recent graduate or early‑career professional the chance to develop hands‑on experience in mechanical design, product development and technical problem‑solving within a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and drafting of mechanical components and assemblies.
• Create 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
• Support senior engineers throughout product development and project execution.
• Participate in design reviews and technical meetings.
• Perform engineering calculations and select appropriate materials.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure design feasibility.
• Maintain engineering documentation and revision control.
• Help with prototype testing and implement design improvements.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor or AutoCAD.
