Internal Auditor – Data Assurance

About the role

Absa is looking for an experienced Internal Auditor to join its Data Assurance Audit team. The role involves executing audit assignments in line with the Group Internal Audit Charter, applying audit methodology, and supporting the bank’s risk‑based audit plan.

Key responsibilities

• Develop in‑depth knowledge of audit methodology and apply it across planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases.
• Execute design effectiveness and operating effectiveness testing with minimal supervision.
• Assist the Audit Manager in maintaining a risk‑based internal audit plan and quarterly risk reporting.
• Identify opportunities to use data analytics and automated auditing techniques.
• Prepare concise, fact‑based audit observations and ensure agreed actions mitigate identified risks.
• Provide professional scepticism, raise contentious observations, and support evidence‑based discussions with management.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of internal audit standards, methodology, and quality assurance criteria.
• Ability to assess risks and controls across various business areas.
• Excellent analytical mindset with a focus on data‑driven risk assessment.
• Professional scepticism and ability to communicate findings clearly and objectively.
