Implementation Analyst – Discretionary Fund Management

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing discretionary fund management firm in Cape Town, is seeking an Implementation Analyst to join its investment team. You will translate investment decisions into actionable trades and portfolio adjustments across local and offshore unit trust funds, ensuring the house view is accurately reflected.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily trading for local and offshore unit trust funds.
• Manage and rebalance model portfolios in line with Investment Committee decisions.
• Produce internal and client‑facing portfolio management reports.
• Identify and implement process improvements for trading and implementation workflows.
• Collaborate with the development team to design and build a front‑end system that streamlines implementation.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in asset management, discretionary fund management, or unit trust environments, with direct involvement in investment dealing or portfolio implementation.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, investment management, or a numerate discipline.
• Strong understanding of unit trust structures, dealing processes, and model portfolio mechanics, including cash flow and liquidity management.
• Process‑improvement mindset with a track record of contributing to system or workflow projects.
• Highly disciplined, detail‑oriented, and able to meet daily trading and reporting deadlines without error.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Experience with Python scripting.
• Familiarity with Power BI or Power Query for data analysis.
• Comfort using AI tools to enhance process efficiency.
