ICU Qualified Registered Nurse

About the role

The client, a leading healthcare provider in Empangeni, is seeking a Registered Nurse with ICU qualification to deliver high‑quality care to critically ill patients. The role focuses on holistic patient management, adherence to clinical protocols, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic and specialised nursing care to ICU patients, ensuring optimal outcomes.
• Communicate continuously with patients and families regarding condition and care plans.
• Administer medications in line with ethical and legal standards.
• Maintain infection‑control practices and contribute to SHEQ reporting.
• Monitor and report equipment status daily, coordinating with clinical engineers.
• Manage stock and staff hours according to unit policies.
• Support training and development of junior staff and ensure appropriate skill mix.

Required profile

• Relevant nursing degree or diploma in Critical Care Nursing.
• Proven experience working in an ICU environment.
• Strong customer orientation, energetic, well‑organised and able to work under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexi‑hours and on‑call schedules.
