Human Resources Officer – Johannesburg

About the role

Our client, a leading international logistics company, is seeking a Human Resources Officer to provide comprehensive onsite HR support in Johannesburg. Reporting to the HR Manager, you will handle recruitment, payroll, employee relations and policy administration across multiple divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Advertise vacancies, screen candidates, arrange interviews and conduct background checks.
• Create new roles and maintain employee records in the SAGE payroll system, ensuring monthly payroll deadlines are met.
• Manage HR administration, including employment equity documentation, exit interview analysis and policy reviews.
• Oversee benefit administration for retirement funds and medical aid, ensuring proper documentation.
• Provide industrial‑relations advice, attend disciplinary, appeal and grievance hearings, and represent the company at CCMA or NBCRFLI proceedings.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of labour legislation, case law and sector‑specific regulations.
• Prepare monthly reports on new hires, terminations, promotions and vacancies.

Required profile

• Relevant HR qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour law, CCMA processes and employment equity.
• Excellent communication and advisory skills for both staff and management.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple HR functions simultaneously.
