Head of Credit Risk & Collections Strategy

About the role

homechoice is seeking a dynamic leader to head its Credit Risk and Collections Strategy function. You will shape strategic credit decisions, optimise collections, oversee IFRS 9 provisioning and contribute to fraud initiatives while providing governance across the credit lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee credit risk assessment processes, models, scoring systems, underwriting criteria and end‑to‑end workflows.
• Design and implement credit risk policies, collections and recovery strategies to optimise debtor costs and cash yields.
• Lead a high‑performing team of analysts responsible for forecasting receivables provisions and recoveries.
• Own debtor costs on the income statement and collaborate with Finance on forecasts and reporting.
• Partner with Credit Operations to execute and review strategies, recommending improvements.
• Represent Credit Risk in collections strategy and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Develop and maintain reporting tools (PowerBi), analytics and forecasting models using SAS, SQL and data analytics.
• Engage with regulators, auditors, investors and stakeholders to ensure compliance and manage emerging risks.
• Stay current with regulatory changes, industry trends and emerging credit‑management risks.
• Participate in talent management and capability‑building within Credit Risk.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a numerate discipline (Statistics, Mathematics or similar); honours desirable.
• 8+ years of experience in credit risk, collections strategy or recoveries, preferably within retail credit portfolios, banking, fintech, insurance or financial services.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams of analysts or managers.
• Strong forecasting and risk‑strategy expertise with advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of IFRS 9 provisioning principles and fraud risk controls.
