Handyman

About the role

We are looking for a Handyman to join HYDE Johannesburg Rosebank, a lifestyle hotel. The role involves maintaining the hotel’s facilities, equipment and guest areas to ensure a safe, clean and high‑quality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Keep furnishings, facilities and equipment clean, in good repair and replace or refurbish as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance, installations, repairs and troubleshooting on electrical, refrigeration and general mechanical systems.
• Carry out rotation cleaning duties and respond promptly to breakdowns.
• Report accidents or equipment damage immediately.
• Ensure guest satisfaction by attending to requests courteously and efficiently.
• Maintain logistics duties with minimal disruption to guests and operations.
• Leave work areas clean and ready for use after each task.
• Follow quality standards, complete required paperwork and suggest improvements.
• Maintain storage areas tidy and follow operating procedures for all tools and equipment.

Required profile

• Qualified electrician, mechanic or plumber with a recognised trade test.
• Experience in advanced facilities and equipment maintenance practices.
• Intermediate knowledge of equipment and facilities maintenance.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Sense of urgency, dedication to high standards and ability to work safely under pressure.
