Food Service Assistant

About the role

The Food Service Assistant supports daily operations in a canteen or kitchen environment, ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and high‑quality service for customers. You will work as part of a team to keep the serving line stocked, maintain safe food handling practices, and deliver a friendly experience.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all areas, complying with company and statutory regulations.
• Keep the serving line well‑stocked, clean, and organized.
• Store and record food leftovers accurately.
• Clean and orderly upkeep of canteen tables, kitchen, and related spaces.
• Assist in training new employees when required.
• Handle customer expectations, complaints, and compliments professionally.
• Participate in shift hand‑overs, ensuring stock is counted and transferred correctly.
• Attend meetings and training sessions as needed.
• Perform any reasonable requests from management and support additional duties outside the core scope.

Required profile

• Matric (high school) qualification.
• 1‑2 years of experience in a similar food service or hospitality role.
• Ability to work shifts and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Good personal hygiene and free from skin allergies to foods and detergents.
• Strong communication skills and a customer‑service orientation.
