Financial Controller – Multi-Entity Insurance Group

About the role

Our client, an international insurance group, is seeking a detail‑driven Financial Controller to lead the financial control function across multiple local and international entities. The role offers full ownership of bookkeeping, reporting and governance, supporting strategic decision‑making in a complex, regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of end‑to‑end financial control and bookkeeping across multiple insurance entities.
• Oversee inter‑company transactions, ensuring accuracy, alignment and timely resolution.
• Prepare and review accounts up to trial balance, maintaining clean general ledgers.
• Lead month‑end close, including journals, accruals, pre‑payments and supporting schedules.
• Perform detailed balance‑sheet reconciliations and proactively resolve variances.
• Ensure accuracy of key accounts such as bank, VAT, payroll, debtors, creditors and inter‑company balances.
• Coordinate audit processes, preparing documentation and liaising with auditors.
• Strengthen financial controls and governance frameworks across the group.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and drive efficiencies through system optimisation and advanced Excel usage.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 7‑10+ years of experience in accounting or financial control, preferably within insurance, financial services or other multi‑entity regulated environments.
• Proven track record of full‑function accounting and month‑end close ownership.
• Strong business acumen, analytical thinking and high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations).
• Experience with cloud‑based accounting systems.
