Financial Controller / Manager (Remote, South Africa)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller / Manager to own the finance function of an international services business. Working remotely from South Africa, you will act as the sole finance lead, partnering with senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full finance function independently, including daily accounting operations.
• Maintain purchase ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.
• Perform bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and entities.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, forecasts, and budgeting materials.
• Support cash‑flow management, financial planning, and payroll for ~12 employees.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory compliance documentation.
• Oversee invoice factoring, discounting, and multi‑entity, multi‑currency operations.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and financial service providers.
• Monitor financial performance, identify process‑improvement opportunities, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Highly self‑sufficient, organized, and able to balance multiple priorities.
• Proactive with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Comfortable operating autonomously in a fast‑paced SME environment.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior leadership and external partners.
