Financial Accountant / Accounts Supervisor

About the role

A vacancy exists for a Financial Accountant/Accounts Supervisor, based at the hospital and reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the performance and management of accounting processes to achieve compliance, standardisation and efficiency in the function.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Finance and Administration Manager in maintaining a strong financial control environment and enhancing corporate governance practices.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, aiming for Green Internal Audit Ratings and audit reports with no financial issues beyond housekeeping matters.
• Review the monthly trial balance, focusing on material transactions, balance‑sheet reconciliations, and promptly address anomalies.
• Monitor overhead costs and manage controls through liaison with hospital management.
• Prepare and submit quarterly bad‑debt and stock templates, summaries and explanations.
• Support spend monitoring for doctor support, seed‑funding project reconciliations, and lease template preparation for new doctors.
• Assist with budgeting, variance analysis, capex reporting and periodic financial reporting for management.

Required profile

• A university degree (BCom or equivalent) preferred; relevant experience will be considered.
• High performance orientation, independence, strong initiative and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication skills and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
• Competencies such as problem‑solving, resilience, ethical behaviour, and strong organisational awareness.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with SAP (advantageous).
