Finance Manager – Johannesburg

About the role

Our client, a leading automotive manufacturer in Johannesburg, is seeking a Finance Manager to lead the financial operations of its division. The role involves overseeing accounting, reporting, budgeting and ensuring compliance with IFRS and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and execute all finance‑related activities, including financial control, reporting, budgeting and planning.
• Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, variance analysis, margin calculations and risk commentary.
• Maintain accurate financial records, perform general ledger reconciliations and review journal entries.
• Manage cash flow, collect receivables, pay suppliers and execute banking transactions in line with SARB regulations.
• Support internal and external audit processes and implement audit recommendations.
• Prepare tax and VAT computations and ensure timely filing.
• Lead a small finance team, including an Assistant Manager, and collaborate with other departments.
• Conduct ad‑hoc financial investigations, analysis and special projects as required.

Required profile

• Grade 12 Senior Certificate with NQF Level 6 qualification in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance role, with at least 4 years covering audit, tax and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in the motor industry is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, planning and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Competence with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
