Electrical and Energy Engineer

About the role

Afrimat Shared Services is seeking an Electrical and Energy Engineer to support design, project delivery and energy optimisation across its mining sites.

Key responsibilities

• Design and specify MCC, MV/LV and switchgear, produce single‑line diagrams, cable sizing and protection coordination studies.
• Attend and sign off Factory Acceptance Tests, supervise site installation, prepare budgets and commission new electrical installations.
• Develop and maintain control and instrumentation systems, including PLCs, VSDs, P&IDs and control philosophies.
• Manage electrical energy consumption data, conduct energy audits, identify improvement opportunities and support renewable and behind‑the‑meter projects.
• Coordinate with Eskom and other electricity suppliers, prepare scope of works and attend site meetings.

Required profile

• BEng degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience on engineering projects and field work.
• Willingness to travel to Afrimat sites and possession of a valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
• Medically fit in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act.

• Control & instrumentation expertise (PLC, VSD, P&IDs).
• Energy data analysis, metering platform rollout and energy auditing.
