Dog Kennel Manager / Veterinarian

About the role

The organization seeks an experienced professional to lead its Dog Unit, combining kennel management with veterinary oversight. You will ensure the health, welfare, and operational readiness of security dogs while supervising staff and maintaining compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the overall dog unit, including staff recruitment, training, and performance.
• Oversee daily care, feeding, health monitoring, vaccinations, and medical record keeping for all dogs.
• Maintain kennel facilities and equipment to high standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, industry legislation, and security protocols.
• Conduct regular inspections, compile reports, and investigate operational matters.
• Liaise with senior management and clients regarding dog deployment and welfare.

Required profile

• Veterinary qualification (BVSc or equivalent) preferred; registration with SA Veterinary Council preferred.
• Proven experience managing dog kennels and security dogs.
• Strong people‑management and leadership abilities.
• Experience in the security industry is an advantage.
• Good administrative, organisational and communication skills.
• Computer literate, valid driver’s licence, reliable transport, and no criminal record.
