Crime and Security Threat/Risk Identification Profiling Analyst

About the role

The Crime and Security Threat/Risk Identification Profiling Analyst will work in Helderkruin, Roodepoort, reporting to the General Manager of Specialized Services. The analyst is responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting security crime and threat information to provide early warnings and support decision‑making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Collect security threat information from open sources, social media and existing supplier feeds.
• Maintain and update an online database with continuous security crime and threat data.
• Conduct daily environmental scans and issue timely alerts and situational reports.
• Profile key individuals, industries and markets to identify crime hotspots, modus operandi and emerging trends.
• Provide ad‑hoc reports and individual threat assessments on request.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent; a degree in criminology, criminal justice, statistics, sociology or law enforcement is advantageous.
• At least 2 years of experience in data analysis, analytical environments or law enforcement.
• Strong planning, organisational and interpersonal communication skills.
• Clear background check and ability to pass a polygraph test.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS and data‑analytics tools.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to gather, verify and analyse large data sets.
