Design & Construction Compliance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Design & Construction Compliance Engineer to join a major mining plant construction project in Richards Bay. The role involves reviewing and verifying engineering design documentation and construction methodologies to ensure compliance with South African legislation, mining requirements, engineering standards and construction codes.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify design drawings, technical documentation and construction method statements prior to approval.
• Ensure designs and construction methodologies comply with applicable South African standards, codes and regulatory requirements.
• Assess construction methods against building, engineering and mining plant construction standards and identify compliance risks.
• Liaise with engineering, construction and project teams regarding technical and compliance requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of technical reviews, approvals and supporting documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Construction or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant professional experience, preferably in mining, mining plant construction or major construction projects.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of South African design and construction codes and standards.
• Good understanding of South African mining legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general engineering/project documentation systems.
