Deceased Estates Officer

About the role

The Deceased Estates Officer administers deceased estates for Nedbank Private and Wealth, ensuring timely settlement, compliance with legislation, and a high level of client satisfaction. The role also supports business growth by referring sales leads within the Nedbank Group.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in Nedbank culture and CSR initiatives to support transformation goals.
• Identify and implement improvements to processes, systems and policies.
• Ensure all estate assets are insured and maintain accurate cash reconciliation statements.
• Conduct monthly risk reviews with management and obtain equity mandates before asset liquidation.
• Explain the estate administration process to heirs, manage expectations, and provide regular progress updates.
• Respond to client queries and complaints within 48 hours and escalate when necessary.
• Maintain professional relationships with beneficiaries, intermediaries and internal clients.
• Finalize estates within 12 months, generate executor fees, and maximise profitability.
• Collect and forward required documents to authorities, and allocate assets to lawful heirs.
• Stay updated on relevant legislation and industry changes.

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 qualification (NQF Level).
• Understanding of legislation affecting deceased estate administration.
• Preference will be given to applicants from under‑represented groups.
