Country Director – Lead Orbis Operations in South Africa

About the role

The Country Director (CD) will provide strategic leadership for Orbis International’s South Africa office, guiding program implementation, partnerships, and fundraising to advance the organization’s mission of improving eye health.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all Orbis projects and programs in South Africa, ensuring alignment with global and country strategies.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation, and reporting frameworks to measure impact and meet donor requirements.
• Prepare and submit accurate programmatic, progress, and financial reports to headquarters.
• Lead the development of the Country Strategic Plan and drive fundraising activities in collaboration with development teams.
• Build and maintain partnerships with donors, government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure financial compliance.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in a non‑profit or global health environment.
• Strong track record in program management, monitoring & evaluation, and results‑based reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to secure funding and manage donor relationships.
• Excellent collaboration skills with government, NGOs, and international partners.
