Control Room Security Operator

About the role

The Control Room Security Operator will monitor and manage the security surveillance system at Boshoek Smelter, ensuring rapid response to any incident. Working in a dedicated control room, you will be the first point of contact for emergency and security situations, coordinating with internal teams and external services.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously review live and recorded CCTV footage to detect irregularities.
• Man the control‑room emergency response station and radio base station.
• Initiate and coordinate emergency and security responses to identified incidents.
• Maintain and update security logs and incident reports.
• Communicate with internal and external emergency services as required.
• Report system defects and failures and assist in their resolution.
• Support audit and review of surveillance recordings and tier‑one footage.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Security PSIRA Grade B – advantageous.
• Minimum two years of relevant security experience.
• Experience in a control‑room or surveillance environment – preferred.
• Basic computer literacy.

Required skills

• Radio communications handling.
