Commis Chef – Full-Time Position

About the role

This role is focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences by preparing meals to brand standards and ensuring consistency in service. As a Commis Chef, you will support the kitchen team in a fast‑paced hotel environment, prioritising guest satisfaction and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present meals in line with brand standards and food safety regulations, ensuring quality and consistency for every guest.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas, adhering to health and safety protocols.
• Assist in cost control measures by monitoring portion sizes, waste, and inventory, supporting financial compliance.
• Follow standard operating procedures, conduct regular equipment checks, and uphold occupational health and safety guidelines.
• Identify and suggest enhancements to improve product offering, service delivery, productivity, and overall efficiency.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent with a National Certificate in Hospitality or Professional Cookery (NQF Level 4) recognized by SAQA.
• At least one year of hands‑on culinary experience in a formally brigaded kitchen environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer literacy for documentation and communication.
