Chef de Partie – Pre-opening

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Chef de Partie to join the pre‑opening team at The Cape Town EDITION Hotel. In this role you will be responsible for preparing high‑quality dishes, supporting the kitchen team and ensuring seamless service during the hotel’s launch.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and substitute items according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters and maintain food logs.
• Thaw frozen items, portion, arrange and garnish dishes accurately.
• Monitor food quality and quantity, and communicate assistance needs during busy periods.
• Inform the Chef of excess items for daily specials and update service staff on menu specials and out‑of‑stock items.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and coaching kitchen staff.
• Follow all safety, security and hygiene policies, report incidents and complete required certifications.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and protect company assets.
• Perform physical duties such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 25 lb, and reaching overhead.
