CAD/BIM Modeler – HVAC, Plumbing & Drainage

About the role

The CAD/BIM Modeler will be responsible for creating and managing detailed technical drawings and BIM models for HVAC, plumbing and drainage systems in commercial and institutional projects. The role involves close collaboration with clients, consultants, contractors and internal project teams to ensure designs meet South African standards and project deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare technical drawings and BIM models for HVAC, plumbing and drainage systems, adhering to SANS standards.
• Design, modify and coordinate multidisciplinary services including fire, electrical, structural and architectural elements.
• Manage BIM models, develop BIM families, and ensure clash‑free coordination across all disciplines.
• Participate in site meetings and ad‑hoc site visits to update designs and resolve construction issues.
• Produce tender information, specifications and equipment details for multidisciplinary coordination.
• Contribute innovative ideas for BIM processes and internal operational improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in consulting and building industry, with at least 4 years using BIM.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and drainage design according to South African (SANS) standards.
• Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary services and produce detailed equipment specifications.
• Experience with Autodesk Revit and other Autodesk products is essential.
