About the role
Inuka is partnering with a renewable‑energy independent power producer to hire a BESS Solutions Engineer based in Cape Town. The role will support utility‑scale battery storage projects from design through to commissioning, ensuring solutions are technically sound and commercially competitive.
Key responsibilities
- Support delivery of standalone and hybrid BESS projects across multiple lifecycle stages.
- Develop and review technical specifications, employer requirements, and EPC documentation.
- Conduct technical reviews of BESS technologies, contractors, and system designs.
- Assist in contract negotiations and technical due‑diligence processes.
- Provide technical oversight during construction, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Review battery performance, safety systems, and compliance with grid and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to internal standards, product development, and solution optimisation initiatives.
Required profile
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in BESS or hybrid PV+BESS projects.
- Strong understanding of lithium‑ion battery systems, controls and grid integration.
- Experience with technical specifications, EPC contracts and technical due‑diligence.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
