AWS Platform Engineer

About the role

DVT is seeking an AWS Platform Engineer to join its cloud consulting team. The role is client‑facing, working directly with enterprise customers in financial services, telecommunications, government and other sectors. You will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and drive best‑practice adoption across cloud infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Set up SageMaker Unified Studio (SMUS) and automate domain and project creation.
• Collaborate with networking teams on VPCs, subnets, security groups and related architecture.
• Integrate MyAccess, EntraID and AWS Identity Centre with platform services.
• Develop base CloudFormation templates for Bedrock and AgentCore integration.
• Integrate the platform with the Data Platform (Silver and Gold layers).
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines where appropriate.
• Ensure all infrastructure is defined and managed through CloudFormation.

Required profile

• Strong experience with AWS services and enterprise‑scale platform builds.
• Proficiency in Python and AWS CDK.
• Hands‑on experience setting up platforms from an enterprise perspective, including SageMaker Studio.
• Ability to balance delivery speed with governance and engineering rigor.
• Matric (Grade 12) and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent.
• At least one relevant certification (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CKA).
• South African work authorization or valid work permit.
