Audit Supervisor – Durban

About the role

The Audit Supervisor will join Zircon Consulting’s Durban office to lead audit engagements for a diverse client base. This full‑time, on‑site position involves overseeing audit teams, preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and execute audit engagements from start to finish.
• Prepare and review financial statements and audit reports for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Guide and mentor junior audit staff, delegating tasks and monitoring progress.
• Analyse financial data, identify risks and provide value‑added insights to clients.
• Ensure audit processes adhere to IFRS for SMEs, ISAs and other relevant regulations.
• Maintain effective communication with clients to address their needs and expectations.

Required profile

• Successful completion of an audit traineeship.
• Minimum of one year post‑articles experience in audit.
• Previous experience in supervisory audit roles is preferred.
• Strong technical ability and professional judgment.
• Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Valid South African driver’s licence, own transport and willingness to travel.

Required skills

• Proficiency in applying IFRS for SMEs.
• Knowledge of International Standards on Auditing (ISAs).
• Working knowledge of MS Office.
• Experience with CaseWare audit software.
