Architect – Buildings Team (Johannesburg)

About the role

Woolpert Africa is looking for an Architect to join its Buildings Team in Johannesburg. The role involves developing project deliverables from concept through construction and close‑out, while collaborating with global staff and interdisciplinary partners on complex, high‑performing projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team in the development and delivery of all project deliverables.
• Coordinate design, documentation and construction phases for medium to large retail, multi‑family residential or commercial projects.
• Work closely with Project Leads in the UK and US and support the Regional Team Leader.
• Ensure design quality, sustainability and compliance with client requirements.
• Maintain clear communication with global and local stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
• 4–6 years of architectural experience across design and construction stages.
• Experience on medium‑to‑large projects such as retail, multi‑family residential or commercial developments.
• Strong design, coordination and problem‑solving abilities.
• Commitment to staying informed on latest architectural technologies, materials and sustainability practices.
• Well‑developed organisational skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
• Desire to collaborate with global teams.
• Preferred: registration with SACAP.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
• Knowledge of Bluebeam.
