Air-Conditioning Service Technician (Johannesburg)

About the role

Our client is seeking experienced Air‑Conditioning Service Technicians to join their service team in Johannesburg. The role involves servicing, maintaining, repairing and commissioning air‑conditioning equipment, including VRV/VRF and chiller systems, while delivering professional customer support.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned servicing, preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on air‑conditioning systems.
• Diagnose technical faults and perform repairs to restore equipment to safe and efficient operation.
• Execute commissioning requirements for VRV and chiller systems.
• Conduct site inspections, assess equipment condition and prepare costed job proposals.
• Provide 24‑hour telephonic technical support and assist after‑sales engineers.
• Prepare detailed service reports with photographic evidence and recommended actions.
• Identify maintenance contract opportunities and recommend system improvements.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or N3 HVAC Diploma; National Trade Certificate in HVAC&R.
• SAQCC Category B Safe Handling of Refrigerants certification, First Aid Level 1.
• 5–7 years of service and maintenance experience in air‑conditioning/HVAC, including at least 5 years fault‑finding, 3 years commissioning and installation.
• Hands‑on experience with VRV/VRF and chiller systems and ability to calculate heat loads.

What we offer

• Competitive total cash compensation of R600 000 per annum, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
