Accountant – Full Accounting Function for Group Entities

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑driven Accountant to join a well‑established organisation in Johannesburg. The role offers broad financial exposure across multiple smaller entities within the group, allowing you to make a tangible impact on financial reporting and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Create and implement internal controls for transaction recording, payment scheduling, and approvals.
• Manage the end‑to‑end accounting process, from transaction processing to financial statement preparation.
• Review monthly creditors, oversee payments release, and handle debtor processing including invoicing, credit notes, and collections.
• Process monthly journals such as interest, depreciation, and accruals.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and monitor cash flow.
• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns and liaise with SARS for dispute resolution.
• Support monthly payroll processes and manage incident report cost allocations.

Required profile

• BCom degree or equivalent qualification.
• Completed articles and ability to draft financial statements independently.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
• Experience with accounting software such as Pastel or Sage is advantageous.
