Accountant – Construction Finance Role

About the role

We are seeking a newly or recently qualified accountant to take ownership of core finance functions within a fast‑paced, project‑driven construction environment. The role provides full exposure to the financial cycle, including general ledger management, month‑end close and project costing.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑function general ledger across multiple accounts and projects.
• Prepare, analyse and complete monthly management accounts.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including accruals and journal entries.
• Perform general ledger and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Process, review and post journal entries with accuracy.
• Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders and management.
• Assist with external audit preparation and supporting documentation.
• Reconcile and monitor key balance‑sheet accounts such as creditors, debtors and project‑related accounts.
• Support construction/project costing and financial tracking.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards and company policies.
• Identify and resolve variances and discrepancies in financial data.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting (required).
• Completed SAIPA/SAICA articles (required).
• 1–3 years post‑articles experience (advantageous).
• Strong experience with GL reconciliations and month‑end processes.
• Exposure to construction, property or project‑based environments (beneficial).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
