24-Month Internship Programs

About the role

The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) is offering a series of 24‑month paid internship programmes across policy research, legal, human resources, public education, and monitoring & evaluation. Interns will be based primarily at the Head Office in Johannesburg, with one position in Pretoria, and will support CGE’s mandate to promote gender equality in South Africa.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification (MA in Social Sciences, LLB, HRM, Gender Studies, Monitoring & Evaluation, etc.)
• South African citizenship and a valid driver’s licence where required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with willingness to travel nationwide for research
• No prior participation in a CGE internship programme
• Strong analytical, report‑writing and communication abilities

What we offer

• Stipend of R8 500 per month for most programmes (R7 500 per month for HR, Education & Monitoring internships)
• Fixed‑term 24‑month contract
• Placement at CGE’s Head Office in Johannesburg (or Pretoria for the Public Education role)
