Zone Controller – Logistics Operations

About the role

The Zone Controller will oversee pre‑delivery loading, cargo handling and collection processes at our Middelburg depot. You will ensure that waybills, parcels and COD items are accurately processed and that safety and compliance standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and sort waybills, verify cargo against waybills and stickers.
• Supervise loading procedures, scan parcels into trucks and ensure correct handling.
• Identify and follow up on COD collections.
• Conduct bay checks, investigate non‑deliveries and maintain daily bay schedules.
• Monitor vehicle activity using a satellite tracking system.
• Direct parcel sorting to destination areas and verify documentation.
• Record cheques, maintain zone files and ensure accurate data capture.
• Provide team guidance, handle complaints, train staff and motivate performance.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• 3–4 years experience in freight or transportation.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations.
• Basic understanding of warehousing, routing and freight packaging.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy, preferably with FreightWare or similar logistics software.
• Experience using satellite tracking systems for vehicle monitoring.
• Fundamental knowledge of motor vehicle operation and traffic regulations.
