Zone Controller

About the role

The Johannesburg branch in Kempton Park is seeking an experienced Zone Controller to oversee daily distribution operations. You will lead a team of drivers and assistants, ensure compliance with service level agreements, and maintain high standards of safety and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and train drivers and zone assistants to achieve efficient performance.
• Supervise daily activities, monitor vehicle tracking, and minimise shortages, misroutes and damages.
• Prepare and submit accurate daily, weekly and monthly operational reports on time.
• Coordinate with the fleet manager to optimise fleet utilisation and monitor overtime.
• Handle staff scheduling, absenteeism, leave management and enforce uniform compliance.
• Assist Customer Service with queries to maintain overall client satisfaction.
• Escalate incidents to senior management and risk management as required.

Required profile

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• 3‑5 years of operational distribution experience.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and be reliable and punctual.
• Strong planning abilities, including shift handover planning and execution.
• Vehicle and fleet knowledge.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Pivot Tables.
