Unit Manager – Trauma & Emergency

About the role

The Unit Manager – Trauma & Emergency will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, cost‑effective, high‑quality nursing care. You will be responsible for coordinating capacity building, mentoring, and ensuring compliance with clinical governance and infection‑prevention standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure safe, cost‑effective patient care aligned with clinical governance and evidence‑based practice.
• Evaluate patient journeys and monitor nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with patients about their care and promote health and wellbeing.
• Implement group quality initiatives and uphold infection‑prevention and international standard precautions.
• Liaise with public liability on incidents that could pose risk to the business.

Required profile

• Relevant nursing qualification (B Cur Degree) or equivalent management qualification.
• Post‑basic Trauma qualification.
• 3–5 years experience as a Unit Manager or Shift Leader in a trauma setting.
• Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable healthcare legislation.
• Compulsory BLS certification.
• Advanced computer literacy; knowledge of Kronos is beneficial.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts.
