Unit Manager Trauma and Emergency

About the role

The successful candidate will manage and coordinate clinical practice and resources within the Trauma and Emergency unit, ensuring alignment with company and hospital objectives of quality, growth and people. This senior nursing leadership position requires delivering optimal patient outcomes while fostering a learning environment for staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Provide effective clinical leadership and implement nursing care plans across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure staff competence, drive professional socialisation, and deliver feedback to stakeholders.
• Promote customer satisfaction, handle complaints, conduct quality care rounds and clinical audits.
• Implement national quality initiatives, identify clinical and safety risks, and execute corrective actions.
• Lead people management processes, uphold company values, and sponsor productivity‑enhancing projects.
• Participate in business planning, budgeting, and manage nursing costs and equipment stock.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including doctors, patients and service providers.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing with a specialist Trauma‑trained qualification.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Relevant nursing experience delivering critical outputs in a private healthcare setting.
• Proven leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Basic understanding of labour legislation, financial and supply‑chain principles.
• Computer proficiency and a valid driver’s licence with ability to travel.
