Our client needs a Trauma Unit Manager for their private hospital in Johannesburg West Rand. The successful candidate will lead nursing personnel within the Emergency Department and must work well under pressure.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the unit provides safe, cost‑effective, high‑quality patient care in line with clinical governance and evidence‑based practice.
• Evaluate the patient journey through patient experience feedback and stakeholder contributions.
• Monitor nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes and act on findings.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care.
• Promote health and wellbeing of patients and employees.
• Maintain infection‑prevention standards and international precautionary measures.
• Implement group quality initiatives across the department.
• Liaise with public liability regarding incidents that pose potential risk to the business.

Required profile

• Relevant nursing qualification with management experience.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
• Compliance with SANC code and applicable health‑care legislation.
• Trauma‑trained with at least 5 years’ experience in Accident and Emergency.
• Experience working shift patterns in an emergency setting.
• Preferably SAP experience.
• Compulsory BLS certification.
• Advanced computer literacy.
• Bachelor’s/Diploma in Nursing, registered with SANC.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Trauma and Emergency Nursing (essential).
• Prior experience as a Trauma Unit Manager, preferably in a private hospital.
